Madrid is the perfect city in which to learn Spanish. It’s ideal for immersion, because friendly locals love to chat but may not have the highest level of English. Here are some of the best spots in the city where you can take a Spanish language course.

AIL Madrid
Accredited by the Instituto Cervantes, AIL offers 24 different Spanish courses from A1 (beginner) to C2 (advanced). You can do private classes, group classes or exam preparation, and all classes are taught by native Spanish speakers. You can even do Spanish dance or arts classes to bolster your creative side while learning the language at the same time. In addition, AIL allows you to do a high school year in Spain and provides gap year opportunities. The school only accepts students aged 17 and over.
In addition to having plenty of different course options for adults, like immersion classes, business Spanish and preparation for the Spanish citizenship exam, TANDEM also offers junior programs, where students aged 15–17 can come to study and live with a host family. The Instituto Cervantes-accredited school even offers special classes for au pairs and courses focused on specific subjects, such as Spanish wine, cinema and art.

International House Madrid
With various locations throughout Madrid, International House has been teaching Spanish as well as other languages for more than 30 years. Besides offering basic Spanish courses, they also offer a special courses for those aged 50 and over related to learning Spanish language and culture. They also have a ‘seven cities‘ course, where you’ll be able to travel through seven of Spain’s major cities whilst learning the language, and a sightseeing course, which allows you to learn and be a tourist at the same time.
Don Quijote
Don Quijote has Spanish language schools all over the country, and their hub in Madrid offers plenty of professional preparation courses, like DELE exam courses, business Spanish and Chamber of Commerce exam preparatory classes. Some of the business modules even include meetings with business professionals or professors, allowing you to practice Spanish and network at the same time.
Estudio Sampere
With a new location in Madrid’s fancy Barrio Salamanca, this school boasts 15 air conditioned classrooms and a library. Spanish courses include plenty of language instruction, but also include elements of sightseeing, wine tasting, cooking, cinematic screenings and all sorts of other cultural learning experiences. Sampere also offers senior courses for adults over 50.
LAE
LAE offers kids and family Spanish classes in Madrid, which could be especially useful when it comes to reinforcing the use of Spanish in a bilingual family. The school also offers corporate Spanish classes, intensives and year-long programs for students. These include lots of cultural activities and social opportunities. Plenty of extra support and private classes are offered, like their special one-to-one power hour which can help reinforce what you’ve learned in a group class.
InHispania
This Spanish language school offers evening and intensive courses for those who may have to work or study while learning Spanish. There’s even Skype classes available for those who may not be able to attend classes in person. InHispania has an onsite library where you can study, and has started up a blog to help prospective students understand more about Madrid and Spanish culture in general.
Lingua Madrid
Besides offering a variety of Spanish courses, Lingua Madrid focuses on organising plenty of excursions and activities for their students, allowing them to really get to know the city through sightseeing, museums, sports and even hiking. The school offers intensive courses and attempts to work around your schedule if you are working or studying at the same time as learning the language.
